Wickford, Rhode Island

Once called one of America's Top 10 best Main Streets, its not exactly a hidden place to locals. But if all you think of Rhode Island is Newport and Providence, then this is absolutely worth a visit. Situated just north of the Newport Bridge, Wickford has an amazingly intact business district surrounding the village's marina. Watch Hill, Rhode Island

A small Victorian marina village set in the larger town of Westerly (itself pretty charming), Watch Hill is the downtown district of what many consider to be New England's version of the Hamptons. Just over the Connecticut border and south of downtown Westerly, Watch Hill offers quite a few shops and restaurants and what may be the oldest running carousel in America, The Flying Horse Carousel.
