Narrowsburg, New York

Called the Eagle Capital of New York for the majestic birds that hover above the Delaware River cliffs, Narrowsburg is the tiniest village with the most bang for your buck. Centered around its arts alliance and theater company, Narrowsburg is quite a surprise in southwestern New York State.

Spring House Commons - Barryville, NY

They're trying hard to turn the Barryville area into a country destination. I think it might be a litte too spread out. But one charming place in town is definitely worth a look. Formerly a bording house overlooking the Delaware River, the Spring House Commons was renovated a few years ago and is still a small hotel. Since then there have been a few different shops in and out. Currently, the Chocolate Mousse Cafe reigns supreme, and that's fine with me.

Just down the road is the local gathering place, The River Market and Until Next Time Antiques

La Shed du Fred - Callicoon, New York

Okay, it still has a way to go, but Callicoon, on the Delaware River, does have a few interesting shops including La Shed du Fred.

Bridgewater Mercantile - Jeffersonville, New York

A few years ago, the entire town of Jeffersonville appeared on a TLC Network show called Town Haul with Genevieve Gorder. At the time, Jeffersonville was just starting to make a name for itself. With the arrival of stores like Bridgewater Mercantile, the town is on its way to becoming a major Catskills destination. I first discovered this charming store when it was located in Wayne County PA.
