Art gallery, workspace, teaching studio and event space run by Jennie Traill Schaeffer (hence the extra 'L' in Traill), where her imaginative art evokes  the memories of country cafes, tag sales, farmers markets, and grandma's kitchen. But her modern interpretations of these classic images and applications such as tiles and note cards makes her point of view accessible and appropriate for just about everyone. The extra bonus is that this wonderful gallery is set in surprisingly charming Newton, which we will definitely be writing about soon!

Peters Valley Craft Center, Layton, NJ

As remote as you can get in Northern New Jersey, Peters Valley is set within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Offering workshops and auctions, this artists colony also showcases their work in a gallery, museum shop, and various festivals.
