Pancakes with macadamia nut sauce? Sure! Famous on the island and located in a wealthy town east of Honolulu, this breakfast and early lunch spot is worth the drive. Located on a side street behind a shopping center, you will wait for a table at this unassuming restaurant. If you need another reason to visit Kailua, then make your way to the Lanikai neighborhood just south of town. We spent days laying on their gorgeous, quiet, mostly underutilized beach that is often voted one of the best in the world. Oh, and the drive on H3, the highway between Kailua and Honolulu is one of the most specacular on the island.
