1790s, 1870s or 1920s
This house was advertised as being from about 1920. Although it had been remodeled in the 1950's, it was pretty obvious, the first time we saw it that this house was much older. There were bits of antique siding peaking out of cupboards, wide board floors, the remains of a massive cooking fireplace, etc. Our inspector estimated the main part of the house at about 1870 and the kitchen as much older. We have since found a picture of the house on an 1802 map of the Union Tract in the Flemington Hunterdon Courthouse. The kitchen and bedroom above were the main house for a 200+ acre farm on the Raritan River.
